Fellowships

A letter from the Fellowship Programs Director

A very warm welcome from the Indiana University Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences fellowship programs!

We are proud to offer 13 different fellowship programs (as seen in the next tab "Available Fellowships"), which provide high quality education and clinical training for graduates of diagnostic radiology residency programs. Our ACGME accredited fellowships include Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Radiology, and Vascular & Interventional Radiology. We also sponsor nine additional non-ACGME fellowships that have been approved by the IU School of Medicine Office of Graduate Medical Education, including Advanced Neuroimaging, Body Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Breast Imaging, Cardiothoracic Imaging, Head & Neck Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Pediatric Neuroradiology, and Trauma & Emergency Radiology.

As a referral center for the entire state of Indiana and the largest medical enterprise within the state, our fellows are exposed to a wide breadth of imaging and pathology. This, combined with a vast array of leading edge technology, world renowned radiologists and referring physicians, interdepartmental/multidisciplinary conferences, and collegial work environment allow for our fellows to mature in their clinical skillset while we facilitate their transition to autonomous sub-specialists.

In keeping with the tradition of excellence in education at IU School of Medicine, our fellowship training programs build on the knowledge acquired during residency and prepare fellows to be experts in their area of subspecialization. At the completion of training, our fellows are ready for independent practice in either academic or private practice settings.

Given our strong clinical infrastructure, dedication to research, and nationally-recognized education tradition at IU Radiology and Imaging Sciences, a second year of fellowship training may be tailored to individual needs.

Please look for the tab "How to Apply" on the right side of our fellowship pages website. We invite you to submit your application after exploring sections of interest on our website. If you have additional questions, please contact our fellowship programs office at 317-944-1816.

Best regards,

Nicholas A. Koontz, MD
